Commercial sauna: public bath with spacious sauna area
An extensive sauna area with several indoor saunas, steam bath, outdoor saunas, roof terrace and relaxation areas is the wellness highlight of the newly built year-round public bath in the Oberpfalz (Upper Palatinate): The Schlossbad Neumarkt has become an attraction for the entire region. Our team is proud that corso was able to realize this large-scale commercial sauna project in 2021/22. In total, the sauna world includes 5 saunas and a steam bath, all located on the upper floor of the bath, so that from the roof terrace there is a beautiful view over the outdoor pool. Well thought-out sauna concept: energy-saving and revision-friendly
Christian Braun, Head of Leisure Facilities at Stadtwerke Neumarkt, is very satisfied with the project: “All saunas are equipped with modern sound systems and, like the very well-dimensioned stoves, leave nothing to be desired. Corso has also responsibly decorated the main access area of our outdoor terrace with wood – a real “eye-catcher”. Thanks to Corso, we can inspire our guests every day anew with the facility and enchant them with our infusions.”
During the entire implementation of the project, great importance was attached to working sustainably and conserving resources. Only high-quality, durable woods from controlled, European forestry have been used here. In terms of sauna technology, we have implemented the project in an energy-saving and audit-friendly manner in order to optimize operating and maintenance costs.
Regional references have been taken up in the sauna naming and design: inside, guests can relax in the Pfalzgrafensauna (Finnish infusion sauna, 50 seats): the reddish-earthy shades and the play of colours of the lighting ensure a cosy and relaxed rest. The finely tuned light ensemble offers a harmonious day-night change cycle and is programmable in all colours. A large brass plate directly above the XL sauna heater provides an eye-catcher and at the same time serves as a heat shield for the sauna ceiling above. An atmospheric starry sky was built into the sauna ceiling made of panel material.
From the Schlossweihersauna (panoramic herbal sauna, 20 seats), sauna guests enjoy the unobstructed panorama over the Neumarkter Schlossweiher and the Schlosspark. A mild temperature, essential oils and the stoves installed under the benches ensure a pleasant sauna sweating experience; this sauna can be operated in both Finnish and bio mode. The herbal sauna (25 seats) offers a higher humidity at 65 – 75 degrees, herbs and essences provide an invigorating note. An automatic infusion system is used in this sauna.
The steam bath (17 seats) was a special challenge: the interior design was to be modelled on a large-format underwater coral reef. Since no image material was available in sufficient size/quality, the photorealistic motif was created by us in cooperation with the specialized 3D visualizer Pure3D exclusively for this project. … continuously applied to large-format glasses over all 4 walls using special processes and installed seamlessly (which was actually not child’s play due to the large glass elements).
Outside, the Wolfstein sauna stands for “pure nature” (Finnish infusion sauna, 60 seats): the kelo wood of the interior cladding creates a unique climate. This extremely hard wood comes from permafrost polar regions and does not rotten, but “petrifies” so to speak. The wood is extremely robust and very well suited even for the most intensive infusions, so that here in the castle bath also Weniks, Banja rituala or beer rituals with beer abrasion can be offered.
In the salt sauna (Finnish sauna, 20 seats) it smells of fresh conifers and fine salt crystals: a mild stimulating climate that is particularly beneficial for stressed respiratory tracts. The sauna back wall was designed with salt stones, which can be illuminated with color changes. Bowls with salt and dried pine needles additionally support the effect. Our team also creates an eye-catcher in the relaxation area : the seemingly “burning glass wall” of the fireplace lounge gives the impression of a floor-to-ceiling indoor fireplace. The highlight, however, is that the fire glow is caused solely by the effective use of lamps. In this way, the “fire” can be achieved with minimal effort and is particularly easy to maintain.
