Sauna above the ocean

The completely newly built Galomar Resort is the first energy self-sufficient 4+ star hotel in Madeira – eco-friendly designed and perfectly integrated into the natural environment. The location directly above a cliff is unique: guests enjoy magnificent views – also from the two breathtaking panoramic saunas (bio & Finnish). The decision to realize the challenging SPA project with corso was made by the hotel group on the basis of the personal recommendation of a business partner. Roland Bachmeier from Galo Resort commented: “In addition to the outstanding quality, we chose corso mainly because of their special designs. Environmental awareness and the protection of species have also played a role.”

Unmistakable and bright

This corso design sauna is illuminated by warm white light, supported by a downlight above the design oven. The stone wall behind the straight-line heater is reminiscent of the origin of nature. The aspen wood of the cabin is set off with a dark shadow gap (double-groove profile with inserted, dark tongue). The spacious benches invite you to relax in the exclusive built-in sauna and immerse yourself in deep relaxation…

Combination of light and dark

A high-quality retreat in the basement to switch off from everyday life: The sauna in oiled walnut shows your value already through the noble veneer material. Due to the smooth surface and the large-format plate elements, a very quiet, almost seamless overall picture is achieved. The sauna was also deliberately covered with walnut from the outside in order to make the noble wood work in the room. In combination with the glass corner, the sauna looks spacious and transparent. The contrasting sauna benches in bright aspen are particularly pleasant due to their low thermal conductivity and smooth feel. The combi-oven makes it possible to either sather in Finnish or to use essential oils or herbs for aromatization with the evaporator as a bio sauna.

Relaxation with a view

The entire room and the sauna live from clear lines: with a design heater, plain benches and the quiet joint image of the noble veneer. The high-quality thermal oak smells particularly pleasant and has a cosy and relaxing effect. The harmonious image is complemented by colour-matching benches made of thermo-aspen with excellent sauna properties: the wood does not splinter, does not secrete resin and does not get hot. The large-format natural stone tiles consistently continue the clean lines: the outside of the sauna bordering to the shower was also covered with tiles. From the sauna with glass front, the view through the spacious porthole falls on the quiet landscape – together with the moonlight, a very special atmosphere results…

Sauna and conservatory

In this outdoor sauna with fully glazed front you sit in the middle of the greenery and can also enjoy the garden while saunabathing. The sauna has been combined with an upstream conservatory, which is visually seamlessly connected to the sauna via the continuous wooden floor. The project was added as an extension to the existing single-family house. The highlight: the glass elements of the conservatory can be moved completely flexibly and opened to all sides – without fixed apertures for maximum openness. With the front closed, there is a wind-protected relaxation area, so that the sauna can be used optimally all year round. [The conservatory can be heated cost-effectively using infrared radiators.] In addition to the sauna, a shower area was integrated. The sauna is kept in clean lines, relaxation is supported by indirect lighting with colour change. Relaxation for the whole family!

Homely design bath

This sauna made of structured precious veneer in dark oak was planned as a tailor-made solution for a very comfortable, homely bath with an open fireplace. The glass front of the sauna continues seamlessly with the directly adjacent shower. The dark sauna wood and the partly floating benches made of thermo-aspen harmonize perfectly with the colour play of the large, grey-brown tiles. Due to the indirect lighting behind the sauna bench, in the neckline of the shower back wall and at the bathtub, the straight designer bath as a whole gets a cozy and relaxing atmosphere.

Continuous large glass front

It is not only the large glass front that skillfully showcases the reclaimed wood of this design sauna: the colour-changing LED lighting underlines the relaxing charm of the strong-character wood. The free-floating, simple loungers are made of thermo-aspen, the sauna heater is installed invisibly in the back wall. The sauna can be used either as a Finnish sauna or as a bio sauna, whereby the evaporator is housed externally. This tailor-made design sauna unique piece was designed and built by corso for the private house of Verona Pooth: after the workout in the consistently bright and clean designed fitness area, you can relax in the rustic sauna….

Design in rod optics

Effectively illuminated and staged: the elaborate rod optics create an extravagant overall picture. The client attached particular importance to the colour play of the wood: interior and exterior cladding are made in high-quality, oiled walnut real wood veneer. Due to the sloping cladding, the sauna benches made of thermo-aspen are not visible from the outside. As a style element of the “BAUHAUS architecture”, the interior of the sauna was seamlessly extended to the outside. Another detail is the concealed built-in infrared emitter at the seat directly in front of the cabin. A backbench heater and an invisible speaker complete the straight-line design.

Precious wood in rod optics

Walnut is considered to be a valuable, very shape-stable precious wood: the dark grain veins pass through the wood in a soft way. In this elaborately modernized old building, the corso design sauna becomes a noble eye-catcher due to its warm, reddish-brown colour. The shape of the rounded glass is resumed inside through the benches. The backrests fit almost invisibly into the rod optics of the interior lining. In order not to interrupt the overall effect, a rear wall heater was installed. In order to implement a perfect line, everything was manufactured and assembled with the highest precision according to the detailed planning.

Warming infrared emitter

After the workout, this sauna lover relaxes in a fully glazed corso design sauna. Chic detail: the glass sliding door. The interior in bright aspen has been designed in a straight line and fits perfectly into the modern ambience of the property. The smooth wood surface is very calm and homogeneous: due to its low thermal conductivity, the aspen is particularly suitable as sauna wood. The infrared emitter provides additional muscle relaxation in the neck and back area. With the built-in loudspeaker boxes, the sauna can be rounded off musically. The double groove profile with inserted, contrasting shadow joint gives an interesting overall look.
